CW4 US ARMY KOREA, VIETNAM, & PERSIAN GULF The following was provided by saturner03: Eldon Wade Gentry was born in Nocona, Texas on 9/19/1930 and passed from this life on 12/11/2014 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Eldon served his country in Korea as a military policeman from 1951-1953. He retired from the U.S. Army on 9/19/90 as a CW4, with over 39 years of active and reserve service. Eldon graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1975 with a B.S. degree in criminal justice and worked as a personnel specialist for the Bureau of Federal Prisons regional office in Dallas, Texas, retiring on 9/01/87. After his retirement, Eldon continued to enjoy working at various other jobs and also spent several years gardening and raising animals on his acreage near Poetry, Texas. He was a member of the Church of Christ. His lifelong work ethic, patience in dealing with others, and his love for family are a few of the characteristics of Eldon’s life that cause those who knew him to refer to him as “a good man.” Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marie Gentry, of Nocona, Texas, his first wife, Bobbie, of Mesquite, Texas, and by his brother, Bobby Weldon Gentry, of Wichita Falls, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie, his daughter and son-in-law, JoAnne & Royce Jordan, granddaughter Sarah Turner and her husband, Aaron, grandson Thomas Wade Jordan, and his wife, Velvet, and three great-grandchildren, Jake and Ava Jordan and Samuel Turner. Visitation will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 3:30-5:30 in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, 1600 S. Garland Ave., Garland, Texas. Burial will be Monday, December 15, 2014 9:00 AM "lane A" at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
