She was born in east Texas, I believe around Harleton in Harrison County, but one source also said "Panola" (not sure if it's Panola County or a city called Panola; in any case, this appears to be near Louisiana). Betty married John Wiley Starr; John Wiley Starr was also part Native (Cherokee, it is thought),. Betty died in childbirth with her 8th child at only 30 years old; John Wiley died of tuberculosis a couple of years later (when he was less than 35).
