Bio

Ervin "Gus" Siems, of Waco, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014. Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, December 26, at St. Mark Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Price officiating. Burial will follow 2 p.m., at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Texas. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Ervin was born in Hamilton, Texas, to the late Alex Adolph and Minna Elizabeth Eilers Siems. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aleman, Texas, and graduated from Hamilton High School. Ervin entered the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1948. On October 21, 1950, Ervin married Billie Carlene Harmon. He farmed in Hamilton until 1955 when he joined the Texas Department of Public Safety where he served the great state of Texas and it's citizens for 31 years. After retirement, he returned to his love of farming and enjoyed it until his death. Ervin was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Billie Carlene Siems; and sister, OraDell Tyson. Survivors include his son, William Alex Siems and wife, Vicki, of China Spring, Texas; grandchildren: Shannon Blalock and husband, Andy, of Amarillo, Erin Abernathy and husband, Richard, of Lorena, and Brian Siems and wife, Jessica, of China Spring; great-grandchildren: Brinley, Carly Sue, Gus, Jackson and Judd; brother, Harvey Siems and wife, Bernie, of West, Texas; other relatives and many friends.
