Thanks to contributor #47226369 Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska Barbara Papiernik Ord Resident, 92 Barbara Papiernik, 92 of Ord died Fri., June 15, 2001 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord. Funeral services were held Mon., June 18 at 10:30 am at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church. Father Bob Rooney officiated. Burial was in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Papiernik was born Nov. 10, 1908 northwest of Ord in Valley County to Bolish and Martha Zulkoski Suminski. She was raised in northwest Valley County and attended rural Valley County schools. On Oct. 19, 1926 she married Steve Papiernik. The couple moved to a farm west of Ord where they lived for 16 years. They continued to farm north of Ord until 1965 when they moved into the town of Ord. Mr. Papiernik died Jan. 18, 1999. Mrs. Papiernik was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church and altar Society. She enjoyed doing ceramics, embroidering and cooking. Survivors include a son, Don Papiernik and his wife, Janet of Ord; two daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Adrian) Kusek of Burwell, Elva (Mrs. Martin) Shonka of Schuyler; nine grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Durand and Martha Janus, both of Ord; one brother, Bernard Suminski of Gresham, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one great-grandson; and three brothers, Dominic, Carl and Leonard Suminski.
