Bio
Son of Sloman Wynne and Mahala Camp; Married Sarah Carolyn Garrison in 1859 in Haralson County, Georgia; Wynne was a farmer, school teacher and music teacher, and later a newspaper editor (lastly Living Issues in Brownwood, Texas). Several of his compositions appeared in The Sacred Harp by B. F. White. He was a Confederate Veteran and a Mason. Burial location is based on newspaper obituary. It was either never marked or lost. (Sometimes his last name appears as “Wynn” and his first name as “Mathew”.) Wynne, of the “Living Issues,” return their most grateful thanks to Camp Stonewal (sic) Jackson, of U. C. V., No. 118, and their acting chaplain, Maj. Jno. Y. Rankin, and W. D. R. McConnell in command, Rev. W. B. Cross, escorted by the Brownwood Rifles, Capt. J. C. West and Lieut. Ed Henley in command, and the Payton Troop Cornet Band, for their kind and generous presence, and the imposing ceremonies of a soldier's burial at the funeral yesterday of their father and husband, and the beautiful floral decorations at the grave by Mr. Phil M. Seitz. (Thanks to Ed Walker and Terry Teague) Editor M. M. Wynne, of the Living Issues, died at his home in this city Monday after a protracted illness, and was laid to rest Tuesday evening in Greenleaf cemetery. Mr. Wynne had long been in feeble health, only doing with an effort the duties of his office. He had gained many friends during his residence in Brownwood and these join THE BULLETIN in sympathy for the bereaved family and relatives. ( Brownwood Bulletin , Vol. 11, No. 4, Thursday, November 21, 1895) Sarah Carolyn Garrison Wynne apparently died by 1891. On August 18, 1891, he married Frances J. Lewis (the widow Arthur F. Talbert) in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas.
