Muscatine Journal - March 21, 2014 MUSCATINE, Iowa — William J. Pegum, 84, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2014, at his residence. A memorial fund has been established at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in William’s name. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 10-10:45 a.m. Monday, March 24, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery. Online condolences: www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Casketbearers will be James Brown, Alex Brown, Josh Hooker and Charlie Madden. Military rites will be provided at the graveside by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post #27. William John Pegum was born on May 2, 1929 in Amana, Iowa, the son of John William and Martha Mattie (Brinkman) Pegum. William proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. William will be missed by his caregivers, James and Dorothy Brown of Muscatine and his dog, Minnie. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evangeline “Vannie” Olson and Elizabeth Hansen.
