Bio

Raymond Newton Cleveland, 83, Belton, MO, passed away April 1, 2004. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 5 at McGilley & George Belton Chapel, with services 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial at Belton Cemetery, Belton, MO. Contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Raymond was born in Walters, OK, on March 19, 1921. At the age of three months, he moved with his family to Waco, TX. He joined the Air Force in 1939, and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1967, serving during WWII. Following his retirement from the service, he worked for Andy Klein Pontiac and the Bank of Belton. He loved nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing all of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Elma (Zies) Cleveland; three daughters, Jerry Ann Haas and husband Robert of Beaver Lake, AR, Jeanne R. Cleveland and husband Steven Bernstein of Evanston, IL, and Cindy Ketchum of Joplin, MO; sister Charlene Martin of Austin, TX; and half brother Melvin Cleveland of Waco, TX; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
