Age 86, Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola is in charge of arrangements Mildred Margaret Olson of Stromsburg passed away December 3, 2014 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola. Funeral services were held Monday, December 8 at the Stromsburg United Methodist Church, with interment in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Mildred was born April 18, 1928 to Louis and Emma (Kastl) Tlamka in rural Brainard. She attended country school east of Osceola. She had a fondness for children and at a young age began taking care of children for many families. She also worked as a waitress at Bernt's Cafe in Shelby. On February 14, 1950 she was united in marriage to Conrad Nathan Olson at the Methodist Parsonage in Columbus. To this union six children were born. They moved to Stromsburg where Mildred has resided at the same home for 61 years. Over the years she worked at the Osceola Good Samaritan Society and the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg as a nurses' aide. From 1972 to 1987 when she retired, she was the head cook at the Stromsburg Elementary school. She was known for making all of the breads from scratch. She was a member of the Stromsburg United Methodist church since 1951, she was very active in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies and Camp Fire girls. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, making blankets for all her grandchildren, baking, being a homemaker and taking care of her husband until he passed away in October 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad, her parents, one great grandson Cayden Olson, one brother Raymond Tlamka, three sisters Luella Anderson, Agnes Topil and Martha Larson.
