Wise and Arlene Goodwin 1988 Handwritten date of paper Feb 4 1985 EDWARD L KOKENGE, 92, 1035 NE Van Buren Street Auburn, died at 2:03 am Thursday in DeKalb Memorial Hospital. He was the father of Mrs John W (Marjorie) Brennen of Garrett. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Mel Herber officiating. Burial was in Auburn Catholic Cemetery. Dilgard, Cline and Southern Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr Kokenge was born Nov 5, 1892 in Avilla to the late Charles and Mary (Helmer) Kokenge. He married Etta Weaver in Garrett on June 17, 1920. Survivors include his wife, Mrs Brennen, another daughter, Carolyn Kokenge of Atlanta GA; a son, Robert of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Mr Kokenge was the retired owner of the Auburn City Hardware, a 50 year member of the Indiana Hardware Association and a member of the Retail Merchants Association since 1939. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Auburn merchants Association. Mr Kokenge was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Auburn; a charter member of the Garrett Council of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the elks lodge of Lima Ohio.
