Valasta Agnes (Rek) Roesler, 93, of Ellinger, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange. Valasta was born in the Brushy community near Ellinger, Texas on February 7, 1921, the daughter of Joe and Amelia (Prihoda) Rek. She married Vernon J. Roesler in August, 1941, and lived her life in the Ellinger community until she moved to Monument Hill Nursing Center in La Grange. Valasta was a talented seamstress and quilter, gardener, and provider of delicious meals and baked goods for her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger. She is survived by two sons: Vernon “Vic” Roesler and wife, Gladys, of Katy and Rocky Roesler and wife, Bonnie, of La Grange; daughter, Elleene “Ali” McDonald and husband, Adrian, of Bryan; sister-in-law, Rosalie Rek of Rockdale ; seven grandchildren: Kim Hebler and husband, Jeff, Kevin Roesler and special friend, Carrie Supak, Kyle Roesler and wife, Lisa, Arianne Wiese and husband, Steve Jacobs, Andi Wiese, Roxanne Brown and husband, David, and Rocky Roesler and wife, Lesley; seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; brother and sister-in-law, Joe Rek and wife, Edith; brother, Jerry Rek; sister, Leona Dybala; and grandson-in-law, John Wilson. Visitation will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Church Road, Ellinger, TX. Private burial at La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mark’s Medical Center for their compassionate care of Mrs. Roesler during her last days and to especially thank all the employees of Monument Hill Nursing Center for their kindness and care over the last many years.
