Miss Annie Brooks Died at Home of Sister in El Paso On Wednesday morning, August 12, 1931 at seven o'clock at the home of Mrs. Willie Johnson, at El Paso, the death angel claimed Mess Annie B. Brooks, she was born at Greenville, Tennessee, August 16, 1898. She, with her parents, moved to Texas in early childhood and has lived practically the remainder of her life in Collin county. For five years she resided in Sherman while the past two years she had spent in El Paso here she lived at the time of her death Aug. 12, 1931. About five years ago she united with the First Baptist church at Sherman and had since lived a consistent Christian life. Deceased was one of eleven children. Her father departed this life Jan 20, 1918. Her mother, Mrs. W. P. Brooks of Sherman with nine brothers and, sisters survive her as follow: Mrs. L. W. Rainwater, Frisco, Jesse Brooks, Pilot Point: Mrs. Bonnie McWhorter, Mrs. Roy Philps, Edgar Brooks and Howard Brooks, all of Sherman; Mrs. W. T. Rogers, Hale Center; Mrs. Merle Jones, Weatherford; Mrs. Willie Johnson; El Paso; Lawrence Brooks another brother departed this life some years ago. Miss Annie had been ill for several days before her death, and passed away after much suffering which she bore bravely. She was loved by many and her going was a loss to her many friends and relatives. Her body was shipped to Frisco, and a a host of friends were present at the funeral which was held in the home of her sister, Mrs. L. W. Rainwater. Burial was at the Bethel cemetery at 3 o'clock p. m. Friday. The floral offerings were beautiful and bespoke the esteem held for her in the community in which she had lived. Rev. Clement of the Methodist church, Frisco, Texas and Rev. Evans of the Presbyterian church, Prosper, Texas had charge of the funeral services. The pallbearers were Jesse Farmer, Henry Burgner, Ray Sterling, Lee Mitchell of Rock Hill, Jim Durherty, Prosper, and Smith Stanton, Hale Center..The Daily Courier Gazette Wednesday, August 26, 1931
