Married Sam McDowell ∼ Betty McDowell Grinder, 92, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 16, 1931, in Scranton, Arkansas, to Valentine & Vivian Stutz. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three siblings, and her sons, Michael Denton and James McDowell. Those who came before her will welcome her with open arms. Survivors include her daughter, Sammie McDowell and son-in-law, Wes Tolar of Russellville; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and six nieces. Betty was a charter member of Westside Church of Christ and taught Sunday School there for many years. She owned & operated Betty's Laundry in Russellville and Dardanelle for 68 years and was an active member of her community. Betty never met a stranger and had a gift for reaching out to help others. Her devotion to family, her work ethic, and her kindness to others will forever be remembered. Visitation with Betty's family will be Wednesday, September 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at Humphrey Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 14, in the chapel at 10:00 am with Bro. Dan Lightfoot officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
