------------------------ Melbourne “Joe” Guy Hulvey died at age 80 on Thursday, January 9, 2003, at his Oraville home. He was born in Bennett, Missouri on September 28, 1922, the son of Alex and Eva Hulvey. He married Golda Sylvia Bardmess in East St. Louis in February 1959. Survivors include three step-daughters, Shirley Beckham and Beverly Rogers, both of Smithville, Tennessee, and Norma Jean Leadlove of Granite City; six step-grandchildren; 22 step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Vivens of Culvert City, California, and Eva Jean Smith of Willow Springs, Missouri; one brother, Ralph Hulvey of Branden, Missouri; and one sister-in-law, Lela Hulvey of Doniphan, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one step-son, Irvin E. Barr; one step-grandson, Kenneth Beckham; and one brother, Art Hulvey.
