Madison Star newspaper July 6, 1950 Former Madison Man Dies at Norfolk Charles Staudenmaier, 75, former Madison resident, passed away at his home in Norfolk on Tuesday evening from a heart attack which he had suffered about two hours earlier. He was born Jan. 1, 1875, and came to the United States when 16 years old. He later homesteaded in northeastern Nebraska and lived at Neligh and Madison. In 1932, he and Mrs. Staudenmaier moved to Norfolk where he has been employed for a number of years by the Gillette Dairy. Mr. and Mrs. Staudenmaier celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on last March 23. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Joe of Madison and Floyd of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Battershaw of Omaha and Mrs. John Shonka of Brainard; one sister, Josephine Staudenmaier of Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A son, Carl, preceded him in death.
