Published in The Paducah Sun, Paducah, McCracken Co., Ky., 31 May 2002 - HOPKINSVILLE, Ky.--Max Sharrock Arnold, 76, died at 10:59 p.m. Tuesday at his home in Hopkinsville. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. He was founder and chairman of the board of Max Arnold & Sons and Maxfuel Convenience stores. A native of Normandy, Tenn., Mr. Arnold attended the University of Tennessee before serving in the Army during World War II. He then attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro and was named a Little All-America football player. He was recently inducted into the Middle Tennessee State University Hall of Fame. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Emogene Arnold; three sons, Max, Randy and Bob Arnold; one daughter, Mary Russo; one brother, H. Ross Arnold; two sisters, Laurine Thurmond and Marjorie Higgins; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. His parents were Jay G. and Annie L. Arnold.
