Services for Mary Ann Bartek, 99, of Temple will be 10 am on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Rick Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Bellwood Memorial Cemetery. Ms. Bartek died Monday, November 3, at a local nursing care facility. Mary was born on October 7, 1915 to Raymond Sodek and Matilda Luksa Sodek in Red Ranger, Texas. She married Robert W. Bartek and they made their home in Temple. Mary was employed with Gresham’s printing for many years. She was involved in her community and church with the American Legion, St. Mary’s Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, and the Bell Chapter of American Business Women’s Association. Mary enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, James Ray Bartek; brother, Raymond Sodek; and a sister, Martha Machalek. Mary is survived by brother, Clarence Sodek; sister, Dorothy Novosad; daughter-in-law, Karen Bartek; two granddaughters, two step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and 2 step great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 9 – 10 am Friday, November 7th, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
