Sacred to the memory of Thomas G. Lamar who was born the 18th of April 1788 and departed this life 27th of June 1833. He had a mind vigorous and cultivated, a disposition frank and generous, principles pure and honorable, and associating in his person a rare assembledge of high moral qualities he prepared to fill and adorn any station in life, in the domestic circle he was a model of kindness, as a father fond and intelligent, and a son kind and dutiful, as a brother generous and attentive, as a friend true and sincere, as a neighbor just and obliging, and as a citizen patriotic and public spirited. His bereaved family have placed the marble over his honoured remains as a memorial of the respect love and veneration with which they fondly and mournfully cherish his memory.
