Bio
Mrs. Ardell E. Valasek, 59, of 518 E Capital Ave. died Saturday at a local hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Valasek was born March 24, 1924, at Strandburg , S.D., the daughter of Amandas and Hilda Carlson Peterson. She grew up in LaBolt, S.D., and received her education there. She also worked in Minneapolis, Minn., in Dayton's Department Store there for several years. On Nov. 17, 1946, she marred Leo G. Valasek at LaBolt, S.D. They lived there until 1949, when they moved to grand island. In 1952, they moved to a farm near Palmer. They returned to Grand Island in 1965. Mr. Valasek died June 26, 1975. She worked at the Yancey Hotel as banquet waitress from 1968 until the hotel closed in 1982. She also worked at Wheeler's as a shipping clerk from 1973 until her death.
