Bio
Services for John Henry Hassell were held at First Baptist Church in Neches; burial followed in Neches Cemetery. He was born to Spencer and Annie Squyres Hassell. He was a retired farmer. During WWI, he served in the 39th Balloon Corps with the US Army. He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Dan Champion, Benny Bennett and John Bolton Perry and great grandson Jackie Adams. He is survived by his wife, Evie Hassell; daughters, Lurlene Stone, Dovie Bennett, Judy McNeill, Adalene Scritchfield, Nell Schochler, Evie Jean Lazenby and Daphne Bennett; sons Henry D. Hassell and Kiper Hassell; 20 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
