Bio

Shawnee resident Rosamond O. Myers, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Shawnee. She was born June 27, 1924, near Wanette. She attended public school in that area and was the valedictorian of her high school class. She attended East Central University for two years majoring in elementary education. During World War II, she traded college studies for a defense job at Tinker Field. She worked as a district court bailiff and secretary in Shawnee, serving District Judges Byrum and Henry. She retired in the early 1980s. On Nov. 11, 1944, she married Wendell Myers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Myers; a daughter, Esther Flora; and a son, Paul Myers; brothers, Bill, Gene and Kenneth Woods; and a sister Sylvia Newell. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Grace and Tom Scrivener of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Farley of Wanette and Wilma Wilson of Kilgore, Texas; eight grandchildren, Laurie Scrivener of Norman, Greg Scrivener of San Antonio, Texas, Ginny Sain and Ben Myers of Clarksville, Ark., Anna Maria Myers Lane of Oklahoma City, Holly Flora Meek of New York City, N.Y., Wendy Flora of Washington, D.C., and Cody Flora of Shawnee; three great-grandchildren; Tom and Phyllis Flora of Shawnee; and Anna Myers of Calvin, Texas. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gaskill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Gaskill Funeral Home is directing arrangements. The Shawnee News-Star - October 8, 2004
