Occie Laird Feb 1,1926-Oct 18,2014 Occie Laird, 88, died Oct. 18, 2014 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.Funeral services will be held Oct. 28, at the East Gate Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.Occie LeElla Laird was born Feb. 1, 1926 in Big Springs, Neb. to Guy and Bertha (Armstrong) Morse. Her early years were spent there, at White Clay, Neb. and at Esterbrook, Wyo. where her family farmed and trucked. After her father’s passing when Occie was sixteen, her mother married Chris Jurgens, and the family resided at Mitchell. On Jan. 17, 1946 Occie married LeRoy Laird in Gering. Occie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She and LeRoy loved to square dance and garden. Both were raised in very large families and were surrounded by family and friends their entire lives. They lived in Torrington, Wyo. for most of their fifty-one year marriage. After LeRoy’s death in 1997, Occie moved to Golden Manor.She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Lenora, Buck, Dorothy, Darlene, Sylvia, Cliff, Bonnie, and Wanda; half-sisters, Leota and Chloma; and step-siblings Emil, Mary, Claudine, and Evelyn.
