The loving and generous spirt of Millie Grosh, 87, a longtime resident of North Platte and later of Sun City West, Ariz., was released to the heavens on July 30, 2014. She made her passage at her home in Sun City West, Ariz., surrounded by loving family. Millie was born on May 30, 1927, to Cora McNeel Yates and Ben Yates in Lexington. Later, the family moved to a farm at North Platte and in 1944, she graduated from North Platte High School. On June 6, 1955, she married Roger Grosh. They opened the Intercontinental Bus Depot Café and proceeded to become prominent restaurateurs and business people. They owned and managed many restaurants in town, including Tucker's Restaurant and Lounge and Roger's Fine Foods. At one time in their busy lives, they were managing seven restaurants in North Platte at the same time. In later life, Millie and Roger split their time between North Platte and Sun City West, where they enjoyed golfing, bridge, and other social activities. Following Roger's death, Millie and her significant other, Crump Redding, continued to alternate time between Nebraska and Sun City West. They spent summers in Alma, where they enjoyed the lake and all of the social activities of its perimeter. For the last several years, Millie resided in her home in Sun City West, Ariz., near her sister, Florence Peterson, year round. She is survived by her siblings, Helen Higginbotham, of North Platte, Florence Peterson, of Sun City West, Raymond Yates, of North Platte, Louise Houghtelling, of Allyn, Wash.; and many grateful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; significant other, Crump Redding; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Rosary will be 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
