Son of Clyde & Elsie May (Bisco) Metcalf. Married to Rozella K. Huss on 5-4-1935 at Sargent, NE. He graduated from Sargent High School in 1933. During high school, he was an outstanding athlete. In 1933, he was selected by the sports writers of the Omaha World-Herald to the "All-State Eleven" football team.
