Fort Bend Herald, October 6, 2014: Raymond Macha, Sr., 93, of Rosenberg, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 3, 2014. Raymond was born September 19, 1921 in Wallis, TX to Richard and Adela (Petrash) Macha. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army. Decorated with the American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 5 bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. Raymond was part of the 118 Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. In his tour of duty, he served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. in Rosenberg. Raymond was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the K.J.T., and a Social Member of the K.J.Z.T. Raymond worked for Duval Sulphur Plant in Orchard, TX and later retired as supervisor at Lamar CISD (carpenter shop). Raymond was a master craftsman which enabled him to build his own boat to pursue his passion to oyster, shrimp and fish on the Texas Gulf Coast. Raymond raised cattle, farmed, gardened and raised various bird species. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Adela (Petrash) Macha. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Martha (Valicek) Macha; 4 sons, Raymond Jr., Mark (wife Scherri), Michael (wife Sandra) and Donnie; 2 daughters, Jeanette Macha Gulbrandsen (husband Jim) and Judy Macha Newmann (husband Albert); grandchildren, Gregory, Alan, Jodi and David Macha; great grandchildren, Brittany and Tyler Macha; step-grandchildren, Karen, Samia and Luana Baseio. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, with Fr. William D. Bartniski officiating, followed by burial at West Gethsemane Gardens in Rosenberg. Pallbearers include Gregory, Alan and David Macha, Patrick Zapalac, John Agnor and Edwin Valicek, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Frank Kubes, Gilbert Sliva, Jodi Macha, Luana Baseio, Jim Gulbrandsen and Albert Newmann.
