Thanks to contributor #47226369 theindependent.com - Apr 11 2001 Mary Owens ORD — Mary Ann Owens, 69, of Ord died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City with the Rev. Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will be in the Arcadia City Cemetery in Arcadia. Visitation is planned from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City and from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church. A vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family. Mrs. Owens was born April 5, 1932, at Loup City to Anton and Sophia (Rewolinski) Lewandowski. She attended grade school at District 59 School and St. Josaphat's parochial school and graduated from Loup City High School in 1950. On Sept. 29, 1951, she married Raymond "Bud" Owens at Loup City. The couple farmed in Arcadia. In 1962, they moved into Arcadia. Mrs. Owens entered Valley County Nursing Home in Ord in July 1985. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society in Arcadia, St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City and the American Legion Auxiliary in Arcadia. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, polka music and dancing. Survivors include her husband; five sons, Richard "Dick" of Albion, Myron "Mike" of Lincoln, Mark of Hastings, Dwain of Columbus and Shawn of Arcadia; five daughters, Paula Johnson of Arcadia, Janelle Masters of Hastings, Julie Gudesen of Ord, Patricia "Patti" Buttell of Hastings and Mary Young of Columbus; two brothers, Fred Lewandowski of Ansley and Dale Lewandowski of Loup City; four sisters, Donette Holcomb of Arcadia, Marge Larimer of Billings, Mont., Harriet Polski of Omaha and Esther Kaminski of Omaha; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one infant son, Joseph; one son, Alan; one brother, Carl Lewandowski; and two sisters, Evelyn Janulewicz and Rozella Silver.
