Yhe Winterset Madisonian Winterset, Iowa Thursday, September 18, 1930 Page 2 Drusilla Kale Whitlow Drusilla Kale was born in Madison county, Iowa, April 19, 1860. With the exception of a few years she had spent all her life in the vicinity of Winterset. When fifteen years of age she confessed Jesus as her Lord and was baptized into the Methodist church. On December 2, 1876, she was united in marriage to William Whitlow. He passed to his rest nine years ago. To this union five children were born. Three of these outlive the mother: Mrs. John Baker and Mrs. Charles Phillips, of Des Moines, and Marion Whitlow, of Winterset. Mrs. Whitlow for the past few years, made her home with her daughters in Des Moines. And while in frail health, enjoyed life. On the Fourth of July last, she suffered a heart attack which made her bedfast. A second attack followed August 2nd. From this she never rallied but entered into rest Friday, September 12, 1930. Her hours waiting for the call were marked with patience and quietness. Eleven grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph Kale and Elmer Allen, of Winterset; three sisters, Mrs. J. Guiberson, of Winterset; Mrs. Emma Goodner, of Kimball, Minnesota, and Mrs. R. Sayers, of Ensign, Kansas, and one step-sister, Sophia Newton, of Des Moines, are among the relatives left behind. She leaves a large number of devoted friends to whom she was ever loyal. ________________________ The Winterset Madisonian Winterset, Iowa Thursday, September 18, 1930 Page 1 Death of Mrs. Whitlow Mrs. Drusilla Kale Whitlow, who lived in Madison county for a number of years, died Friday, September 12th, in Des Moines, where she had been residing with her daughters. Mrs. Whitlow, who was 70 years of age, was born in Madison county, April 19, 1860, and with the exception of a few years, spent her entire life in this county. She was married on December 2, 1876, to William Whitlow, and they were the parents of five children. Two of these and the father have preceded her in death. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. John Baker and Mrs. Charles Phillips, of Des Moines, and a son, Marton Whitlow, of Winterset. Rev. W. C. Porter conducted her funeral services at Tidrick's funeral home, Sunday at 2:30 o'clock and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
