Birth Certificate shows birth name to be Newell Moreland Only the 1910 Census shows: Velma N Moreland Spouse: Raymond Dillard Compton (1904 Ellis Co., TX- 1990 Dallas, TX) Note: not sure who wrote the obituary, but the information on Raymond D. Compton is the wrong info. according to research. Mrs. Newell Compton went to be with the Lord March 14, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born April 4, 1907. She married Raymond Dale Compton January 10, 1929 in Floydada, Texas. She was predeceased in death by Raymond ( June 1, 1908 - July 13, 1953 )and both of their children, Marie Compton, and Charlene Crow. She is survived by grandchildren David Crow of Houston and Kim Crow Adams and husband Bobby Adams of Lewisville, great-grandchildren Shannon Adams of Lewisville and Nathan Adams of Waco, her son-in-law Morgan LeVon Crow of Ovilla, nieces Anita McKnight and husband Bill McKnight, Mary Sue Lunardon and husband John Lunardon, and Janie Henry, cousin Imogene Clardy of Crescent Point and several other cousins. She was loved by family, friends and neighbors from past years, and especially her friends at Crescent Point and Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, TX . Services will be held at Colonial Hills Baptist Church at 10 AM Thursday March 16, 2006, 820 E Wintergreen Road, Cedar Hill, TX 75104 with the Reverends Billy Johnson and Truett L. Huffstutler officiating. Visitation will be at Laurel Land Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday March 15, 2006. Memorials may be made to the Preschool Development Center at the church.
