Bio

Dora (Sams) McDaniel was the youngest child of Coleman Sams and Elizabeth (Hollingsworth) Reid Sams. She married Elisha McDaniel on 9 May 1895 and was his second wife. Dora (Sams) McDaniel died of Heart Dropsy on 4 Jul 1909. This death date was given to me many years ago by her daughter (my grandmother) and I have recently found the following death notice published in The Citizen (Berea, KY) of 15 Jul 1909 which confirms that date: "Burning Springs, July 7.--. . .Dora, wife of Elisha McDaniel died Sunday Evening after a lingering illness of dropsy. She leaves a husband and six children. Her funeral took place the following day. The service was in charge of the Odd Fellow's lodges of this place and Laurel Creek."
