Dewey Gaston "Hoss" Gilchrest, age 83, passed away Monday June 27, 2005 at the De Leon Hospital. He was born on January 15 1922 in Comanche County, Texas to the late Marlin Gilchrest and Mamie Chupp Gilchrest. He was united in marriage to Molece Nabors on January 1, 1948 in Marlin, Texas. Hoss worked for De Leon Peanut Company for 12 years, was a farmer/rancher and had lived in the De Leon area most of his life. He was a Methodist. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Nowlin Funeral Home with burial following at the DeLeon Cemetery. Minister Jackie Auvenshine officiated. Vickie Robinett and LaRessie Wilkerson provided music. Pallbearers were: Bruce Gould, Andy Quinn, Bobby Phillips, Sammy Anders, Don Black, Tom Kastler, Johnny Chupp and Dale Gilchrest. Survivors include; wife Molece of De Leon: brother A. T. Gilchrest of Comanche, sister Bobbie Phillips of De Leon and several nieces and nephews. Hoss was preceded in death by sister Ruby Beverly.
