Bio

Mary Ellen Tanner, 76, of Belton, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at a local hospital. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 19, at Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Little River - Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River. Pastor Arthur Washburn will be officiating. Mary was born in Little River, Texas, to the late Roy and Pearl (Pruitt) Parker. She was married to Lewis “Ed” Tanner. Mary was a homemaker and supported her husband in the family trucking business and Tanner Roofing. She was a lifelong resident of Belton. She was preceded in death by sisters: Vida Louise Kifer, Arlene Rohm, and Bobby Parker; and a brother, R.A. Parker. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Ed Tanner, of Belton; sons: Eddy Tanner and wife, Gwen, of Belton, Ronnie Tanner and wife, Deena, of Gatesville, and Robert Tanner and wife, Dorothy, of Belton; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; brother, Johnny Parker; sisters: Janie Donaldson, Judy Shanks, and Joyce Witherspoon; other relatives and many friends.
