Visitation: Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Missouri. Service: Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. Officiating will be: Rev. Randy Jones. Music provided by: selected favorite hymns. Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery. Pallbearers: Robert Hurshman, Archie Hursman, Joseph Stone and Jim Stewart. Ida Sue Hurshman passed away unexpectedly at 9:52 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Ida Sue attended Vandalia schools and was a Christian by faith attending the Baptist Church. She worked for several years at the Handishop in Mexico until her health prevented her from working any longer. Ida Sue has lived in Mexico for over 30 years and enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives, watching television, drawing and coloring and music. Born: September 1, 1939 in rural Vandalia, Missouri the daughter of Robert Lee and Lily May (Fields) Hurshman. Survivors include: one brother, Robert L. and wife, Vickie Hurshman of Elgin, South Carolina; four sisters: Betty J. and husband, Joe Stone of Mexico, Missouri; Ellen and husband, Jim Stewart of Silvis, Illinois; Lula Ann and husband, C. L. Sims of Middletown, Missouri; Emma Lou Griswold of Lawrence, Kansas; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents; one brother, Charlie Lee Hurshman. Memorials are encouraged to the donor's choice.
