Mary is probably a sister of Elizabeth (Hicks) Murrell, also buried in this cemetery. Additional data provided by Find A Grave contributor #47049540 (civilwarbuff): Mary is the daughter of Nancy Lane and supposedly Absalom Hicks. Her mother married 2nd Calloway Rutherford and is listed in the 1850 Cocke census. She had a brother David Hicks b 1833 who married Susannah Murrell sister of Nathaniel Murrell, children of Job Murrell and Mary Cooper. 1850 Census Cocke Co.
