Corsicana Daily Sun Death Notice - 11/16/05 CNHI News Service — Frances (Snapka) Prikryl, 98, of Penelope passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 at a Hillsboro nursing facility. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Penelope National Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with the Rev. Lori Pistor officiating. Arrangements by Wade Funeral Home, Hubbard. ~ ~ ~ In memory of Frances Prikryl Mrs. Frances (Snapka) Prikryl, 98, of Penelope passed away Friday, November 11, 2005, at a Hillsboro nursing facility. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17 at Penelope National Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with Reverend Lori Pistor officiating. All were welcomed at both service and visitation with the family at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service. Mrs. Prikryl was born March 31, 1907 to Edward and Mary Snapke in Penelope where she lived her life, married for 65 years to B. Jeff Prikryl. She and Jeff started as farmers in Penelope, struggling through the depression years and later opening a restaurant in Penelope. She baked kolaches to sell along with the cooking and serving. The restaurant grew into a grocery-market which was successful for them, and they were able to send all of their children to college. With three children and round-the-clock work, she nevertheless was able to sew her daughters' clothes and later for her granddaughters. She put a great deal into life despite hardships growing up. She had a quick mind that was curious about many things and was ready to embrace learning something new. One of her joys was playing the accordion, which she taught herself to play. Her gardens always produced well, and she shared and preserved her bumper crops. Mrs. Prikryl loved to quilt. All of her children and grandchildren prize the ones she made for them. She even won a blue ribbon for one of her quilts at the State Fair of Texas. One year, she made 150 large stuffed dinosaurs, which still reside all over the country. She was a special, giving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother--always helping others and always loving life. Her later years were spent in Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro Mrs. Prikryl was a member of SPJST Lodge 167, Schulenburg. She is survived by daughters, Pauline Malik of Tucson, Arizona, and Regina Pistor and husband, Charles, of Dallas; son, Edward Prikryl and wife Betty of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
