Barbara Kay Walz age 70, of Mitchell died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Grandview Healthcare in Oelwein, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Serviceman’s Memorial Cemetery. Barbara was born on November 9th 1943 in Mitchell to Earl and Mabel (Dahlenburg) LaFortune. Barbara attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School. Barbara married Samuel LeRoy Walz on August 31, 1963 at the Mitchell Congregational Church. Barbara worked at Syncom, Fanny Horners, Perkins and M&H in Mitchell. Barbara moved to Grandview Healthcare in Oelwein, IA in 2013 where she made many friends both staff and other residents. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters Jeannette Eiss and Dorothy Tharalson, and an infant brother Robert.
