Edgar S. Schulz, 92, of La Grange, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, August 28, 2014. Edgar was born in Needville, Texas on July 22, 1922, the son of Louis and Agnes (Merrem) Schulz. He was the first child baptized in the First English Lutheran Church in Damon, Texas on August 27, 1927. Edgar married Evelyn Ann Mazoch on April 22, 1946 in Plum, Texas. Edgar served in the U.S. Army from 1942 – 1945. He served in the Air Transport Command in New Guinea. He owned and operated the service station at Jacob’s Grocery beginning in 1959. Then in 1968, he owned and operated Schulz Conoco and later Schulz Bulk Distributing. His career spanned more than 59 years in the petroleum industry. Edgar was past Post Commander of the American Legion, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of various other community organizations. He is survived by two daughters: Betty Voss and husband, Ronald, of Corpus Christi, TX and Linda Eilers of La Grange, TX; son, Charles Schulz of La Grange, TX; special friend, Bernice Broz of West Columbia, TX; five grandchildren: Ronald Voss, Jr. and wife, Dina; Richard Voss; Aarron Eilers; Casey Harbers and husband, Curt; Krystal Synatschk and husband, Richard; four great grandchildren: Rohre Voss, Jake Voss, Taylor Voss and Emma Synatschk; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Schulz of 54 years; and daughter-in-law, Pam (Dunk) Schulz; three brothers: Julius “Buster”, Vastine “Pete”, and Nelton Schulz.
