Hampl, Sr., 56, of Roscoe died at 4:53 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. Born Dec. 20, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of George and Virginia (Goodrich) Hampl. Married Sandra Auderer in Loves Park on Feb. 27, 1965. Employed as a human resources manager by Ipsen International for 32 years. Denny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who never burdened anyone with the pain he endured. He was very dedicated to his career and friends at Ipsen International. He treasured his time with family and friends and his camper in Fort Atkinson, Wis. Survivors include wife, Sandy; sons Dennis Hampl, Jr. of Roscoe, and Kevin Hampl of Loves Park; daughters Tamara Hampl of Roscoe and Tracy (Michael) Battaglia of Rockford; grandsons Dominic and Nicholas; mother, Virginia (Les) Rice of Missouri; brother, Donald (Pat) Hampl of Omaha, Neb.; sisters-in-law Laura (Jeff) Adams of Rockton and Susan (Herb) Moore of New Milford; brother-in-law Curt Cooper and Steven Heck; nieces Heather Hampl, Hillary Smith and Sara Moore; great-nephew Zachary Smith; great-niece Megan Smith; special daughters Valerie Kennington and Jamie Myers; best friend and pet Mattie Loo; and special friends "the buddies." Predeceased by father, George, and nephew, Christopher Cooper. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday Feb. 19, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Father James Keenan officiating. Burial in Roscoe Cemetery.
