Millie P. Hill Millie P. Hill, 102, of Sumiton died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at Bell-Sumiton Chapel with burial at McCormack Cemetery. The Rev. James R. Hockingsmith will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 tonight. Bell Funeral Home of Sumiton will direct. She was the oldest member of Sumiton Church of God where she was active in Sunday School, Senior Citizens and the Quilting Circle. She was the retired owner of Hill's Grocery in Sumiton and active in the Sumiton Senior Citizen's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Hill; two sons, James Hill and Ellis Hill; daughter, Pauline Hill Tate; and granddaughter, Sarah Hill. She is survived by her son, Clay Hill of Empire; sister, Arzillie Roberts of Rainbow City; two grandchildren, Charles Hill of Jasper and Sandra Tate Thomas of Hoover; three great-grandchildren, Bunker Hill and Betsy Hill Gilliland, both of Jasper and Kellie Thomas of Hoover; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
