Sena is the daughter of Simon & Henrietta (Hoekstra) DeBoer. Sena married Dirk John Werkman on July 6, 1892 in Holland, Michigan. Sena and Dirk are the parents of: Effie Henrietta b. June 29, 1893 d. May 28, 1974 Etta Margaret John Simon Edward b. June 15, 1903 d. Henrietta Gertrude b. 1894 d. 1895 Henrietta Gertrude b. March 29, 1896 d. January 30, 1981 Gertrude Margaret b. February 4, 1908 d. ******** Sioux Center News; September 21, 1950. WIDOW OF FORMER PHYSICIAN DIES. SENA D. WERKMAN 1868 -1950. Mrs. Sena Werkman, widow of Dr. D. J. Werkman died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1950 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was born January 18, 1868 at Holland, Michigan. Mrs. Werkman had lived in Cedar Rapids for 30 years. She and her late husband, a retired physician and mayor of Hull, Iowa, had left Hull with their family in 1920. Mr. Werkman died in Cedar Rapids in 1937. From 1892 to 1920 Dr. and Mrs. Werkman resided in Hull where Dr. Werkman practiced medicine for 28 years. The following children mourn the loss of a loving mother; Effie, Mrs. Nick Vander Kool of Sharon, Wisconsin, Etta, Mrs. Albert Dewild of Boydon, Margaret, Mrs. George Gunger of Chicago; John Werkman of Chicago and Edward of Los Angeles, California; a brother, Simon DeBoer of Holland, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Miss Gertrude Werkmn of Cedar Rapids, a brother-in-law, Cornelius Van Zee of Orange City; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in the Turner Chapel in Cedar Rapids Thursday afternoon and on Saturday afternoon services were held at the American Reformed Church in Hull. Burial was in Hull Cemetery, Hull, Iowa.
