Esther M. O’Dell Thompson, long time resident of Norman, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Walnut Grove Living Center in McAlester at the age of 88. Esther was born February 6, 1926 in Ramona, OK to Turner and Annie (Elliott) O’Dell. Esther grew up in Osage County and attended school in Ramona. Following Veterinary school at OSU, Dr. J.H. Brashear moved his family to South Dakota to practice veterinary medicine until 1965 and then moved to Norman, Oklahoma where she lived until 2010. Esther worked as a nurse and as a homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress mastering the craft of quilting and embroidery. She was of the Methodist Faith. Esther was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Pitlick; husband, Sam Thompson, husband, J.H. Brashear; grandson, Clint Caudill; three sisters and seven brothers. A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Ramona Cemetery, Ramona, OK with Deacon Kenneth Pitlick officiating. Interment will follow. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Chaney Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester, OK.
