Rites Held For Donald Swanek Donald L. Swanek of Alda, was born October 23, 1932 at Burwell to Stanley and Barbara Kapustka Swanek and died Thursday, April 28, 1988 at home at the age of 55. He grew up and was educated in various communities in the Ord area. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Margie Kluna in Ord on September 6, 1955 and they made their home in Ord before they moved to Grand Island in 1967 where he was a mechanic for Meyer's Farm. He retired in 1980 due to ill health. He was a member of the Catholic Faith, Eagle's Aerie 378, Platt Duetsche and the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Margie of Alda, two sons, Randall of Doniphan and Daniel of Alda; one daughter, Mrs. Pam Kottmeyer of Superior; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Valasek of Comstock and Mrs. Maxine Volf of Burwell. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services were Monday, May 2, 1988 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Burial was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
