VIRGIL LAYNE MACEK Services for Virgil L. Macek, 76, of Temple, will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Denise Mikeska officiating. Burial will follow at Seaton Cemetery. Mr. Macek died Monday, August 18, 2014, at a local nursing home. Virgil was born July 25, 1938, in Seaton, Texas to Frank Joe Macek and Clara Emma Lesikar Macek. He worked on farms in Bell County most of his life. During high school, he and his brother Vernon enjoyed cook-outs and outings. He served in the United States Army during the 1960’s and was a member of the Texas National Guard for many years. Mr. Macek was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara, and by his brother, Vernon. He is survived by a sister, Virginia Shenkir, two nieces, and one nephew. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at the funeral home.
