Bio

Services for George R. Moore were held in the First Methodist Church in Crowell. The Thalia Chapter of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows was in charge of the burial ceremony. Mr. Moore passed away Wednesday in the Crowell Hospital after having been removed from the Quanah Hospital Monday. Born in Mercer County, Kentucky, he moved to Collin County, Texas with his family, settling near Allen in 1877. They moved to Denton County in 1879 and stayed there until 1888 when they moved to Foard County. The Moore family settled near Thalia in 1888. He married Miss Minnie Jobe on 9 April 1903 in Thalia at the home of the bride's parents. Surviving are his wife; three daughters - Ima, Lillian, and Verna Verl; one brother - Henry A. Moore; four sisters - Mrs. Lizzie Warner, Mrs. Susie Minnerly, Mrs. P.A. Ramsey, Mrs. Ophelia Hall. One brother - M.E. Moore preceded him in death. Foard County News November 12, 1936 front page
