John T. Fisher was the son of John Steel and Mary Ann (Webb) Fisher. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Eagle-Reporter (Maywood, Nebraska) 24 Jan 1931 John T Fisher Obituary John T. Fisher was born at Rising Sun, Ia., March 30, 1859, and died at his home at Maywood, Nebr., January 18, 1931, aged 72 years, 9 months and 18 days. He came to Nebraska with his parents in 1870 and in 1872 they settled on a homestead in Jefferson county. He was united in marriage with Miss Carrie Luella Willson October 21, 1882. To this union nine children were born, eight sons and one daughter; three sons and the daughter having preceeded their father in death. One of the sons lies in a soldier's grave in Arlington cemetery, Va. Those remaining with their mother to mourn their loss are Leonard, Denton, Irvine, Mason and Alfred of White, Nebr., also two brothers, Jefferson of Curtis and William of Scottsbluff, and one sister, Mrs. Jos. Lashley of Mitchell, Nebr.; eighteen grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher and their family have lived in this vicinity for about sixteen years, having farmed near Quick and White. About three years ago they bought the residence in Maywood which has since been their home. Mr. Fisher became a member of the Dunkard church in 1895 and always lived an honest, upright life. He was ever a loving husband and a kind father and friend and had the respect of all who knew him. The funeral was held at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon, burial being in Maywood cemetery. Rev. R.F. Shacklock conducted the services.
