Otto Joseph Macalik, 78, of Ennis passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Ennis Regional Medical Center after a two year battle with multiple health issues. Otto was born May 10, 1936, on the family farm in the Creechville Community, to Otto and Mary Macalik. He attended St. John Catholic High School in Ennis. Upon graduation, he worked with Ennis Business Forms, then Machinery Sales and Supply in Dallas and retired from Southwest Abrasives & Equipment in Dallas in 2000. His heart was always in Ennis and most weekends he would leave the big city and join friends and family there, usually working on the farm. Following retirement, he made Bristol his home. Family and friends would often find Otto and Norma fishing at the ‘Old Place’, which brought him great joy. Aside from fishing, Otto loved working in his garden. Otto was a loving and devoted friend, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Otto brought great joy to a circle of friends who will remember him for his kind and compassionate nature. He will truly be missed by many who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Mark Macalik.
