80y 1m 16d, h/o Cynthia (Young) Kinnaird s/o Joseph & Cornelia (Monday) Kinnaird Winterset Madisonian July 20, 1922 Pg 4 George H. Kinnaird, well known throughout the southeastern part of the county and in Winterset, died at the home of his son, Creed, in Winnebago county, Iowa, on July 14th, and his funeral was held at Blair Chapel on Tuesday. He was born in Metcalf county, Kentucky in 1842 and came to Iowa with a colony consisting of the Blairs, Carters and Eskews in 1860. Shortly afterwards he enlisted in Co. H 23d regiment and served his full term of enlistment. In 1868 he was married to Sarah E. Eskew, and after her death was married to Miss Cynthia Young, who died some 15 years ago. Four children survive, Robert of Idaho, James of Colorado and Joseph and Creed of Winnebago county. He was a member of Pitzer Post G.A.R. and the United Brethren church. Of him it may be said that he was a Christian gentleman, without fear or reproach. The funeral was largely attended by people in the vicinity of Blair Chapel, Winterset and St. Charles. Rev. C. H. Connor, pastor of the Methodist church preached the funeral sermon and the burial service at the grave was performed by his comrades of Pitzer Post, Green-Rogers Post, American Legion sent the firing squad, as two of the sons of Mr. Kinnaird are Legion members.
