Aubrey Ruth Oden Cox, age 96, of Palestine, Texas, peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, the 18th day of August 2024. "Ruth" as she was affectionately known, was born in Palestine, Texas, on the 29th day of October 1927 to parents LeeTell Oden and Effie Mae Ingram. Mrs. Cox's commitment to her faith was evident in her long-standing involvement with the Crockett Road Church of Christ. She poured her heart into teaching Sunday School and women's Bible classes, sharing her love for Jesus and inspiring others with her unwavering faith. Her spiritual guidance and teachings have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from her. An excellent cook, Mrs. Cox found joy in the kitchen, especially when it came to using her beloved cast iron skillet. She took great pleasure in teaching all her grandchildren the art of cooking, passing down recipes and techniques that will be treasured for generations to come. Her interests extended beyond the culinary world; she was also talented in crocheting and painting, creating beautiful works that reflected her attention to detail and creative spirit. Before her retirement, she was a cherished member of the community, where she dedicated over 32 years of service as a checker at Winn Dixie, where she was known for her warm smile and kind words that brightened the days of countless customers and coworkers alike. Above all, Mrs. Cox loved her family deeply. She was the embodiment of a loving, wise, and faith-filled matriarch, whose guidance and affection shaped the lives of those around her. Her legacy will live on in the cherished memories and the invaluable lessons she imparted to her loved ones. Mrs. Cox's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, one filled with love, service, and devotion. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends that she leaves behind comprising of her daughter, Paula Osborn; sons, Ronnie Cox, Ricky Cox, and Randy Cox; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren, along with other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, LeeTell and Effie Oden; husband, Benton Cox, Jr.; sister, Jane Howe; and her brother, Elton Oden. Mrs. Cox's family will host a memorial service at two o'clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 24th day of August 2024 at Dogwood Hills Baptist Church.
