Walter Lavelle Emmons was born on October 6, 1936 in Merryville, Louisiana and entered into God's Kingdom on July 27, 2014 at the age of 77. He grew up in the country on a farm and the love of the great outdoors never left his spirit. He graduated from Merryville High and was drafted into the Army in 1958. After his service in the Army he moved to Pasadena, Texas where he raised his family and had a career in the food service business. Upon his retirement he moved back to the country in Magnolia, Texas where he enjoyed his vegetable garden and helping others. His smiles, humor, determination and energetic personality will be missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Irene Emmons, sister, Delores Howard . . He is survived by sons and daughter in-laws, Michael and Loretta Emmons, Robin and Marty Emmons and daughter and son in-law, Catherine and Jack Beasley and four brothers, Donald Smith, Wilford, Melvin, and Robert Emmons. He was blessed with grandchildren that he loved dearly, Jonathan, wife Elissa Emmons, Leda, Erica, Lindsey and Morgan Emmons, Nicolas Emmons, Jacob, Shane, Kendal and Christian Beasley, Katie Murphy, Kyle Morgan and 3 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on August 11 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Wreaths Across America-Houston.
