Dana Josephine "Jo" Spacek, 86, of Mountain View, Missouri departed this life on September 4, 2012 at her home. She was born January 20, 1926 in Winona, Missouri, the daughter of Doris Frances and Amy Catherine (Shehorn) Weaver. Jo was united in marriage to Leslie Sebastian Spacek on January 20, 1946 in Olathe, Kansas. To this union two children were born, Kathryn Ann and David Eugene. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Les; and son, David. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Ledgerwood and husband, Bill, of Mountain View; two grandchildren, David Ledgerwood and wife, Angela, and Tawnya Brooks and husband, Jeff, all of Mountain View; and three great grandchildren, Kassidy, Kolbe, and Matthew. Also a special daughter, Connie Porter, came into her life almost 40 years ago and she loved her as her own. In July 1939, Jo was baptized into Christ and spent the rest of her life in the service of her Lord. Her prayer was for all of her kids to join her and Les in heaven someday. She was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ. Some of the many things Jo enjoyed were the AAA Sewing Club at church and cooking for their fellowship dinners. She volunteered and organized many trips for the Senior Citizens Center and volunteered at Mountain View Healthcare as often as she could. Jo loved doing—doing for the church, doing for the Senior Center, doing elections, blood drives, and so much more. Most of all she loved doing for her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Jo loved cooking and each child knew when their birthday came around it was their special day and could ask for anything they wanted to eat and get it. When she found something special that someone liked, she loved to make it and surprise them—like an apple pie for Leon Porter or a chocolate pie for son-in-law, Bill. Jo loved to laugh, go places, and visit with people. She could raise money for anything she believed in or campaign for her favorite cause. She loved watching Kassidy play ball, listening to Kolbe play his saxophone, and having Matthew hunt for her cane—knowing that he had hid it all along. She had planned to go to Kassidy's game tonight, had she not "gone home". The empty pew at church and the lonely chair at Sunday dinner are only a couple of the places Mother will be missed.
