In Memory of: Robert Spencer Gard March 7, 1922 - July 26, 2014 Robert Gard passed away July 26, 2014 in Allen, Texas. He was born March 7, 1922 in Omaha Nebraska, the eldest of two sons to John Hugh Gard and Pearl "Peggy" Trombee. He moved to Dallas in 1940. Robert was inducted into the Army in 1942 and served our country during World War II in the Asia Pacific with the 96th Division, 382 Infantry, Company H. After the war he returned to Dallas and in 1949 married Rita Eleanor Hamlet. They had two children, Robert was widowed in 1963. In 1968 he married a widow, Dorothy Leona Horn (Nee Herron) who had three sons. They were married for 37 years until her death in 2005. Robert was a commercial artist for 34 years retiring in 1985. Robert was of the Catholic faith and avid reader of books on the history and all aspects of religion. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his spouses, his brother, Richard Ronald Gard and grandson, Gregory Lynn Horn. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Published in Dallas Morning News from July 29 to July 30, 2014
