HOWARD JOHN KALE Howard J. Kale, 80, of the 2600 block of East Garden Avenue died of congestive heart failure Sunday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Kale wads born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had lived in Ottumwa and California before returning to Des Moines in 1957. He was a retired plumbing warehouseman for City Supply Corp. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War 2 and a member of the American Legion. He was a dog trainer and worked with labs and English Springer Spaniel Retrievers. He enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his wife Ruth; two daughter, Phyllis Huber of Des Moines and Barbara McMeen of Amana; a son James of Des Moines; two sisters, Barbara McCrary of Mosby, Missouri and July Thomas of Springfield, Illinois; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Memorial contribution may be made to his church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
